As a concerned parent/community member, I feel obligated to raise awareness about ongoing issues at the Australian Islamic College. While the school presents a positive image publicly, there are deep concerns behind the scenes related to financial transparency, governance, and accountability.
Several parents and insiders have reported:
Lack of transparency in financial dealings and decision-making
Suppression of parent voices and reform efforts
Favouritism and potential conflicts of interest in leadership and board appointments
Retaliation against those asking difficult questions
Despite receiving substantial government funding (reportedly exceeding expenses by tens of millions annually), it’s unclear how these funds are being used. There is little to no public explanation for large surpluses, and attempts to question these matters are often ignored or shut down.
This situation has led to a loss of trust in the leadership. Many are now calling for independent investigations and greater accountability.
I urge prospective families and stakeholders to do their due diligence and ask tough questions before making any decisions. Transparency and ethical leadership are essential in any educational environment.
