As someone who had been to a lot of schools as of bullying, banksia was the the worst. The teachers bully students, the whole school is racist, the school does not care about disability’s, I begged for extra support which they refused and said “I didn’t need it and that I’m just lazy” I was diagnosed with autism 4 years later. And adhd 2 years later. I was extremely suicidal during my years at Banksia park and I still feel a heavy hurt talking about it. The kids only care about what your wearing and that’s the schools fault for expecting all kids to have multiple uniforms, a dress, pants, skirt, a jumper, jacket and mutiple tops, a pe uniform, shoes, certain laptops, jackets, and socks for school only as they weren’t allowed to have ANY colour or brand. I was apart of the “nerdy” group and the teachers used to pick on us if we dropped a piece of popcorn etc on lunch we would be threatened with suspension if we didn’t pick it up.. the respect I have for this school to this day is non existent. MS Siddons thought it was funny to make fun of me for taking my bag to the toilet (it was my monthly) and when my dad called up and complained. The year 8 coordinator at the time spoke for her saying that I shouldn’t have taken my bag to the toilet because it’s against the rules. And then ms Siddons still continued to bully me in maths and refuse to help me. They had a p3do work for them for years on end assaulting boys, which they turned off their school reviews so no one can warn people. The ONLY teacher that was a sweetheart was the art teacher and my English teacher ms sky but these 2 sweet lady’s were the only ones who didn’t complain when I asked for extra support and who didn’t bully me. The schools priority’s are in the wrong place and I hope that one day they look past the money and actually start to help teach kids and help kids create a future. They also pressured us into finishing school or that we would be nothing. When I moved from this school my next school offered programs and helped guide students into careers if they didn’t want to or were really struggling with finishing school. It was encouraging to get a job straight out of school where all the banksia kids I know are jobless after year 12 … which is crazy for a school that gave me detention for getting Ds on fully done assignments that I handed up just because they weren’t good enough. The assignments I got Ds on in year 8 are the same assignments I was assigned in year 10 and got a B on at another school. The only difference is the other school helped me like teachers are supposed to do
Great High School, great teachers. Great area. Sport orientated. Great class of families in the area. Bullies go to school everywhere people giving the school a bad review because they got bullied need to deal with their own problems. Bullies make you mentally stronger if you actually learn how your brain works and learn how to control your emotions. Problem is people choose the easy option instead and end up taking prescription pills to mask unresolved issues in their heads.
Loads of bullying, threats, both ambulance and police showing up frequently, teachers constantly being triggering, targeting students, not listening to their students when they try communicate what’s going on and the teachers just not caring, being more worried about handing stuff in on time and uniform than doing something about the behaviour issues
