Bray Park State High School

As a past student that has autism and high sensory needs this is my experience I would receive death threats from various other students from term 2 in grade 7 I reported them and was completely ignored or told to stop lying in grade 8 I hardly attended school due to bullying simply because my hair is dyed a unnatural colour while yes I understand that goes against the schools uniform policy I had over 30 doctors letters explaining why I required my dyed hair and my specific lip jewellery I was told by both deputy and head principals that they did not care about the letters or the fact my jewellery is one of the safest types you can get they did not listen when I asked for help they were extremely short staffed multiple times I would see staff yelling at disabled students for simple things I had to struggle through each day with unhealthy coping mechanisms such as skin picking and going in to the toilets to breathe and reset once they found out about that I was no longer allowed to go to the bathroom at all now let's talk about the toilets shall we they often smell like drugs and vapes people will often be In there skipping class to vape and talk sh1t about other students they are dirty and there are often used pads on the floor and blood smeared on the walls graffiti is common (fun to read) and the locks and toilets themselves are pretty much always broken there is only 1 disabled toilet which always has something wrong with it The canteen food is fine for the most part There are very few teachers there who actually care about your education most of them will just talk and expect you to listen and learn Music program is great But I do not recommend going to bpshs if you are lgbtqia+ disabled ot neurodivergent they will excuse you being bullied and blame you for it and say that it's your fault you act/dress that way I was bullied out of taking food to school in grade seven and they did nothing 0/10 do not recommend at all

Students are pretty good, teachers, especially the recent hires seem to be excited in teaching the students. All teachers apart from 5 or so outliers are supportive of students and are more than willing to let you have a nice school life as long as you don't make their's horrible. Food is great, nothing more than $5, canteen is large and the cashiers are friendly and remember names, all the bad or horrendous parts are the school were originally in great condition but have been deteriorated due to the usual idiots who choose to vape and regularly destroy the toilets and other amenities, although that's just a sad constant of most if not all schools. Extra-curricular activities are encouraged and rewarding to be a part of, they are also hosted by most likely the best teachers in the school.

Bray Park State High School has caused so many problems for me, friends and family. Whilst I understand that the uniform policy is enforced by the government of education, the school has no regard for students who have sensory issues or can’t afford it. Black socks do not affect my teacher and how they teach, it does not effect my learning and my grades and it does not affect my classmates and their learning. Whilst I understand why schools have a no-phone in class policy, again, the way they discipline children and go about it is wrong. This school has caused my mental illness to get worse, as far as having anxiety attacks every morning, and it even sometimes leading to being physically sick and throwing up. This school may offer me and my fellow students a wide range of subjects, but they do not care about their students, nor their well-being.
