scathing indictment of the schooling system

an absolutely flaming dumpster fire of a school.
bullying and harassment seems to be engrained into the schools culture.
if you ever need help, you can access the well-being team….. so they can turn you away for either being “too severe” or “not severe enough” ! that’ll help !
school has no regard for students who are different yet claims to be “super inclusive !”.
perfect school for a young cisgendered heterosexual able bodied neurotypical man. anything else and you’re screwed. horrifying treatment from staff, students, and everyone in between.

Overall on Brentwood

Mostly nice teachers, some are racist or discriminative though. Lots of students vaping, not much done about bullying even when its brought to their attention but good selection of subjects and opportunities.

Brentwood pros and cone

Okay school, mainly nice teachers and lots of opportunities to try new things.
A large percent of students vape, smoke and vandalise around school and nothing gets done. huge crowds in toilets and private areas making students feel scared to go there quite a few fist fights every few weeks

Graduated from BSC - not so great experience

Told me, an Asian, to dye my pink/orange hair back to a "natural" colour but then all of the other white students were allowed to keep their red, pink, blue and green hair. 😑 Clearly displaying racism. More than half the teachers weren't even good teachers - reading off of the ppt and telling students they "should've studied more" when they asked questions is inappropriate and unprofessional. Teachers should've been more mature than to detest a students' academic ability. The facilities were always occupied by groups of people who vaped and covered in graffiti and the school did the bare minimum about it. The smoke alarms never went off and this intolerable behaviour only influences the younger year levels. The teaching style of every teacher was different but there was a huge difference when it came to year 12. Some classes had the worst teachers and frankly, they did worse on their Sacs and ATARs compared to the students with better teachers. This was especially annoying as Yr 12 is a competition. Not only does this put them at a disadvantage but it forced those poor scoring students to decline in their mental health. The floor was absolutely revolting. Gum was attached to EVERYTHING (even the seats) and the school just left it to dry and turn black. 🤮 There wasn't any bullying as far as I was aware because the school NEVER DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Even if there was and is bullying, the school couldn't care less unless your hair was pink or if your shirt under your thin white uniform has a logo beneath it. The school was truly a let down. Hopefully they improve over the years.
