Okay so let's start with the ridiculous $100,000 playground, funded by the government. No one uses it, within the first week, it got padlocked and caution taped off and only the special education students were allowed to go on it, when apparently it was for everyone (for context the special education students do in fact have their own playground, i have nothing against them using this one but right now it seems to be exclusively for them). We could've asked the government for funding into our dying art subjects where teachers have to use their own money (bearing in mind teachers' pay) to get basic supplies for the students, that the school should be providing. Or perhaps the marine program where they got rid of the ATAR subject for it, took away all excursions and took away the two camps that have been a staple in the marine program for years. Many sports programs have been cut such as the netball program where they were allowed to have one excursion a year, when they need two if they are going to actually play in these competitions. $100,000 could've even been put into the bathrooms where the sinks are massive and the taps are too small so you can't even get your hand underneath them or maybe that there is zero soap in any of the bathrooms, they had a six-week holiday to replace at least some of the soap but no, they didn't. the bathrooms are also filthy; half of the toilets don't flush and there is a ridiculous number of broken doors. The school also closes every single bathroom except for one which is at the front of the school meaning all students who may be busting or having an emergency may not be able to make it, not to mention the fact that teachers are constantly timing us on how long we are out, most people cannot make it back for the time their teachers want them, leading to unjust punishment. The water fountains here are also never clean, taste revolting and you will rarely find a cold one. The canteen is ridiculously expensive which is unfair to those students who can't get food at home and rely on the canteen for their lunches. This school is filthy, spending money in all the wrong places and honestly just an awful place to spend your time for teachers and students, and I won't even get into the fact that on boiling hot days and freezing cold storms we are not allowed inside despite there being adequate teachers to monitor inside the blocks
They have placed new rules in school as of last week where any students caught outside of a class room during class hours without a movement pass are to be suspended. No justification will help you in these situations. They also play a 3 minute song after every dismissal bell to get you to walk to class faster, and I can tell you that 3 minutes is not enough time to get from one end to the other end of school if your classes inconvenience you in this way. They treat students of all ages as if they are still children which is degrading and embarrassing for students who are in their early/late years of maturing into young adults. Overall, the school itself is tolerable as the campus itself is comfortable to learn in and majority of the teachers are kinds and considerate of the students and their needs. However, some of the staff are very entitled and superior to their students and their staff.
This is a very unorganised school with very poor educational priorities. They create the illusion of supportive learning however all they prioritise is that the students are in the correct uniform, if students are on their phone, and their solution for inappropriate behaviour regarding vaping in the toilets is closing all the toilets and forgetting about the actual students necessities and their learning. Im giving this school a two only because the learning environment is good, it is a very well made school and most of the teachers are cooperative and help your learning. However, i think such a good looking school shouldn’t be wasted with such an incompetent educational priority.
