Best Coffs Harbour School
Such a nice environment! Teachers really care about your education, but also your mental health.
this school changed education for me!
i love everything about this school. i wish that everyone could go to school in an environment like this.
as the other reviewer said, your opinion on the school will depend on whether you want to learn or not, but for students who do it is an amazing environment. at my previous school, orara high school, i often took days off because of mental health problems and a strong dislike for the place. since coming to the senior college i now have an attendance of 98% and feel comfortable and happy enough to attend even on days when i am feeling terrible.
the 2 hour periods are a very welcome change and make so much more sense than 6 periods of 50 minutes. rather than a teacher talking for 30 minutes and then you having to cram as much work in as you can, then refocusing when you go to a different subject 6 TIMES IN A DAY, there is an appropriate amount of time for both learning, practising, and sometimes even to relax and get your brain working again.
in contrast to other schools, the staff at this school seem to actually care about what teenagers want and enjoy from their education and use this to make the school more enjoyable. they fight for quality of life privileges such as being able to use phones and having a choice in what you wear (using lanyards as a way around uniform). everything about this school and the way the staff treat students just screams to me “if they wanted to, they could” since they are still a public school and still work under the government, and yet can change the length of periods & uniform.
another benefit of the school is being connected to TAFE and SCU. every week, i enter the campus to some random event, often involving live music, sometimes free food and other things. the place always has a happy and lively vibe to it. high school students also have access to other amazing things for FREE, such as the beautiful library, study rooms you can book & free tutors from the university.
the range of subjects at the senior college is also more vast and if i had stayed at my old school i would have had about 1/6 subjects i actually wanted.

best school ever
drastically different to other schools in every possible way. of course ur ability to make new friends and be self motivated will make your opinion of the school vary, but it is an incredible school and made me love school more than i ever have in the last 4 years.
