I’m writing this review as my google one amongst the others got taken down.
I was a student in the mid 2000’s who moved from Melbourne given the nature of my Dad’s work.
When my family amd I knew we were going to be posted to Brisbane, My Paremts looked up various high schools to complete the rest of my HSC education as I had only 2 years left of it.
We had heard good things about Kenmore in regards to Academic standards, Inclusion and equality to name a few things.
As soon as we got there, I found out (The hard way) that that was very little to NOT AT ALL the case.
I have a mild intellectual disability and Kenmore’s spectrum on the matter determined that you were either Extremely Inteleectually Gifted or that you were completely dumb, eamging from one Extreme to tbe other. It was all black and white with no shades of Grey.
The problem was I was shades of Grey which (somehow) meant I dodnt need a teachers aide but I still had to go to Special Classes where the work wasnt even challenging. I did well because the work was too easy.
The Special Ed. Department was called K Block where it wasnt very stimulating and quite frankly it was delipidated and outdated.
I had previously gone to a High School in Melbourne’s west that treated people with disabilities like equals and held itself to High Standards. Kenmore Did not- They pretended to.
Also most of the staff werent even that much smarter than the students- They pretended to Be!
In saying that the staff weren’t happy either as (In their defence) the serving principal at the time was arrogant and would overrun our assembelies telling us stories about his kids and his life story for so long we didnt even get recess and had to go to our next class starved and fundamentally malnourished.
Also when it came to awards nights and whatnot he would put his own ego before the genuine hard work of the staff and students who tried to make the school look good.
I could prattle on but I would like to close this statement by saying Kenmore is a shining example of how fundamentally and foundationally outdated the education system really is.
Given Evan Winner's history of inappropriate contact with recently graduated children from this school, and that he is still employed by the school, I'd highly recommend seeking schooling for your children elsewhere based on MULTIPLE experiences from my peers. It's also important to note that this was discussed by a staff room, head of department, and deputy principal and NONE of these staff members reported the conduct.
In 2011-2012 a teacher from this school attempted to send pictures of his willy to multiple recently graduated students, at least one still being a child. This was known within school and EQ staff for a decade before it was reported to the appropriate authorities. He still works there. Really looking forward to the fallout if my children end up attending this school while he is still employed
School uniform not the best but it’s ofc alright!!
Greatttt!
Hi, let me introduce myself hi I am Chloe I have just started this school. I can say it’s a great supportive school.. some things I already hate.. highly priced tuck shop food, uniform, some rude students.. I recommend getting a group of girls and chatting with them at break! head of year, very supportive.. and a great school..
I am happy I started this school!!!
Ok ok THE UNIFORM why is it so expensive the socks to so itchy and some kids are sensitive over that and it’s dumb you get a detention for wearing the wrong socks some kids can’t even afford it it’s so overpriced and the tuckshop to some teachers are ok and nice but other YEAH NO so rude “no bullying” “no homophobia” yeah right bullshit and some kids freeze because they can’t afford jumpers and u can only wear sports uniform when u have sports or hpe even if it’s cold boohoo u get a detention and some kids don’t have hpe LIKE FUCKING 😔😔 AAA don’t go pls don’t like if it’s the only school u can go yeah ok BUT I DONT RECOMMEND
horrible. the HOYs and Year Cos as well as the principal and vice principals only care about your uniform, they don’t care about you. there are some really great teachers, but most just don’t care about you, your well-being, or your happiness at all. they also don’t stop people from putting the kids in danger, as many students have brought weapons to school. the school is a wannabe private school and force kids to wear uncomfortable formal uniforms and extremely thin jumpers, even on the coldest days. there are tracksuit pants, but you are only allowed to wear them on the day you have sport or HPE prac, just let the kids be warm, jeez. overall just a pretty bad school, with a lot of rude teachers who swear at students, say racial slurs, and don’t care about the students.
Mostly good - just some things are severally lacking
I went here for close to 3 years. I felt very disconnected, out of place, and straight up not welcome. The students are hit or Miss like the teachers you can best a great teacher for a class but a horrible one for another. I hadn’t met a lot of kids that were great. The boys all act like highechool boys you know (minus a few) but since I wasn’t out (I’m FtM) at the time I can’t exactly comment on how they act with correcting mis gendering and deadnaming. The only experience I had with that was office staff since I was in the Junior hub for my last term there
On the whole I’d recommend a different school. The uniform is absolutely horrible (like straight up you can risk uniform detention for socks). And on the whole it costs an arm and a leg (roughly $600)
There are some good teachers! Some of the ones I liked the most were history teachers, (might be because I was most excited about history) but I also just think they were some of the best there
However I’ve heard horror stories from a friend who left after a single year about one of the teachers and I’d honestly say it’s impossible to avoid them
I can’t comment on the tuck shop but the vending machines did offer pretty good options for snacks if you wanted something small. So I’d recommend bringing a few dollars each day if you might want something
The security there was pretty good! There was only one major occurrence while I was there (bomb threat) and they reacted pretty well. We were all sent to the oval and were taken care of. It turned out being a false alarm so we returned to classes
I can’t comment too much on the education due to my own bad habits and struggles learning, but the history classes are really good! English is also pretty good, overall I’d say it’s rather good education
What I’d say is the worst parts are some of the teachers, students, and the uniform. I’d say that my experience with the school is due to factors outside of the schools control but I would say that indro based on what friends have said might be better

There are better schools out there,
Just being honest!
