King's Christian College Reedy Creek Campus

I attended King's Christian College from Prep until Year 9, and unfortunately my overall experience was largely negative. Leaving in Year 9 was ultimately one of the best decisions I made for my education. Throughout my time there, I sometimes felt I was treated differently because I was male. During primary school, I was also physically assaulted by other students on multiple occasions and, in one particularly memorable incident, I was initially blamed and got into trouble before the teacher spoke to witnesses and established that I was not at fault. Academically, I often found classes lacked stimulation. In Year 1, a teacher recommended that I be assessed for ADHD, with the conclusion communicated to my family being that I was not being sufficiently stimulated in the classroom. As I got older, I found classes were often too large, with disruptive behaviour not always effectively managed. At times, this gave me the impression that enrolment numbers were being prioritised over individual attention and manageable classrooms. After leaving King's, I went on to achieve straight A grades in my final year of school. For me, this reinforced that moving to a different learning environment was the right decision. I also found aspects of the school's Christian culture exclusionary. During my time there, I understood that a church reference was required for certain student leadership positions. While I expected Christianity to be central to a Christian school, I felt leadership opportunities should focus on a student's character and ability rather than their involvement with a church. There were a handful of teachers at King's who genuinely cared, worked hard and made a positive difference, and I remain grateful to them. Unfortunately, they were the exception in my experience. This is my personal experience as a former student who attended from Prep to Year 9. Other students may have different experiences, but based on mine, I would not recommend the school.

Had my kids at this school since prep, pulled them both in high school. The school culture is appalling, they are bringing in riff raff on school scholarships to improve their sporting prowess in a second tier competition. There is no accountability when it comes to bullying or poor academic outcomes. They employ ex students and do not hold them to KPIs. A child (13 years old) recently arrived at school drunk, started to convulse in front of the class and an ambulance was called. After the event there was no concern shown to the kids in the class and it was simply swept under the carpet. In my opinion the school has terrible leadership and is only interested in growing its brand by opening up various campuses whilst hiding behind a Christian veneer, do not say I didn’t warn you. Coming from a Christian parent.
