My experience here
I went to this school and it was really bad for me. I came here because I live nearby and heard the HSC results were good but it wasn’t like that. Some teachers were nice but most were mean and didn’t help me. Other kids picked on me all the time. The classrooms were old, some things were broken and the bathrooms were always dirty. There was nothing fun to do and it felt like no one cared about me. I would never go back there i got bullied for the whole year until i can transfer.
hi, this is my experience as a former student who changed schools
SO TO START OF , THIS SCHOOL SUCKS DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL SEND THEM ANYWHERE BUT HERE. The teachers are always a hit or a miss, and a lot of the things you have to learn by yourself, it's either you already understand it, or you learn it by yourself. They don't give students who ask for harder work, harder work, my math teacher said why would I need harder work when I requested it. Not only that even in newman classes the kids are loud the only teachers that can remotely control a class are ones who are scary or strict. Another large issue in this school is racism coming from someone who used to go to this school, there is so much racism towards teachers and student to student, kids will mock a teacher for having a darker skin colour, along with students.
The learning environment is one of the worst I've ever seen, teachers not teaching properly, students not behaving, any disceplenary action isn't effective none of it works, it's either their parents do nothing which from asking around, a lot of their parents don't care about their grades at all and only care about one subject, Religion, it almost feels like indoctrination coming from someone who isn't Catholic. All the activities somehow lead to a religous talk, yes I am aware it is a Catholic school, but it feels like you have to have at least some school events that aren't so religuos.
Another major problem this school has is that they pay way to much attention to uniform, your socks are the wrong length, demerit, your wearing two pairs of earings, demerit, along with the use of phone lockers, of which they will make you unlock your phone locker to prove that your phone is in there, and if you don't, demerit.
Bullying is one of the largest problems they ignore, thankfully I have never been a target of bullying but I have been a victim of manipulation from a friend, and when I told my year co-ordinator he said I should try "group therapy" with that friend in order to sort through our problems I ALREADY TOLD HIM THAT SHE WON'T ADDMIT SHE'S WRONG SHE WILL ALWAYS THINK THAT SHE'S RIGHT, THERE IS NOT USE IN GROUP THERAPY, ABSOLUTELY NO USE. Not only that their treatment of injuries is one of the worst ones i've ever seen before, one of my friends brothers broke their arm during the sports carnival and they just slapped an ice pack on it and told him not to move it, not even a sling to immobilize it or anything just gave him an ice pack, AND THE FACT THEY PULLED OUT A FULLY STOCKED MED KIT AND GAVE HIM AN ICE PACK, A FREAKING ICE PACK, even I know the procedures for how to treat a broken arm when I don't have a first aid certification. All I'm saying is the teachers need to get extra first aid training, and not the bare minimum.
PLEASE DON'T SEND YOU KID TO THIS SCHOOL THIS SCHOOL IS GENUINELY SO BAD DO NOT, SO MANY PEOPLE MOVED SCHOOLS FROM MY YEAR AND NOW IT'S ALL THE ANNOYING STUDENTS PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL RETHINK YOUR DESICION

Unqualified teachers and over rated teaching school has no idea
Hi school is over rated teachers are under qualified my son couldn’t understand his math teacher couldn’t speak proper English made over a handful of complaints to his year adviser did nothing able it which I then spoke to his year adviser and said we can’t do nothing able it why are we paying $5500 a year school fees for why doesn’t the school employ qualified teachers this is a joke his grades have dropped and the school doesn’t care about it all they are worried about is getting their school fees wouldn’t recommend send your kids there

this school is honestly the worst decision i’ve ever made for my child if your kid isn’t in the newman they won’t get any chance to properly learn because the regular classes are out of control kids are always throwing things yelling screaming and making so much noise it’s impossible to focus on schoolwork when there’s so much disruption teachers try but they can't keep order it's like the school doesn't even care about teaching
on top of all the class disruptions there is a huge problem with vaping and drug use reports and vaping and weed is confirmed by my son my son has informed me that he has seen other kids vaping in the bathrooms at recess and even between classes and it's not even vaping kids will smoke weed and other things on school grounds too it's like they don't even try to stop it all of this is happening right in front of the staff and nothing is done about it i'm really shocked at how much is not being done to make sure that the school is a safe place for kids
the bullying itself is also a huge issue in my opinion my kid has been bullied multiple times and when i reported it to the school they did absolutely nothing every day bullying happens and teachers simply do not really care it's frustrating as a parent to know your child is going through this and the school doesn't care enough about this to do something about it kids are always calling other kids names pushing them around and threatening them it feels like the kids who are wild and not disciplined by their parents get away with doing absolutely everything and the kids who want to learn and do what is right get punished
this school is very old and messy the rooms are small and not clean some stuff is broken and doesn’t work the desks are okay but not great it’s not a good place to learn the school only cleans off rude drawings on the walls like really offensive swear words and genitals yk but doesn’t fix the real problems kids still get bullied things are still really unsafe the school cares more about how it looks than helping the kids
There is no control in this school the children who don't want to learn get to play around and the children who want to concentrate have to sit and put up with the noise and uproar the teachers can't control the class and there isn't any actual punishment for being naughty some children just sit there being unruly the entire time and nothing gets done to them
to be honest i really regret sending my son to this school there are a lot of serious problems that no one wants to fix kids are vaping and using weed at school there is so much bullying and the teachers don’t stop it there is no real discipline bad things keep happening and no one does anything
the school does not care about the students feeling safe or happy they only care about small things like cleaning rude drawings on the walls or making the school look good on the outside but on the inside it’s full of problems the rooms are dirty old and not good for learning some things are broken and don’t work some desks are falling apart it looks like nothing has been fixed in years
It is very sad because this should be a place where kids feel safe respected and ready to learn but it’s not like that at all it’s the opposite my son was not happy here he did not feel safe and i could see it was hurting him that is why i moved him to a new school
if you want your child to learn feel happy and be in a better place this is not the school to send them to i do not think parents should have to pay money for a school that does not care public schools are even better
i moved my son to bankstown senior college and it has been so much better for him i really wish i had done that earlier i do not recommend this school at all parents please think twice before sending your child here

There's also a huge vaping problem at the school. lots of students are vaping, which is super dangerous, but the school isn't taking any action to try and stop it. the teachers and staff just don't seem to care at all about making the school a safe and supportive place for the students. it feels like no one is looking out for the wellbeing of the kids, and it's making the whole school environment feel really unsafe.
The worst thing that happened was in 2022 when a student was actually stabbed at the school. instead of calling the police right away, the principal just told the staff to give the student an ice pack and then have them go home and tell their parents so the school wouldn't end up in the news, which of course it did anyway. this shows how little the school administration cares about student safety and security.
No child should ever have to go to a school where they feel unsafe or like they could get hurt. it's completely unacceptable, and it's clear this school needs a ton of major changes. the people in charge really need to start taking things seriously and do something to fix all these problems. parents shouldn't have to worry about their kids getting bullied, hurt, or ignored at school.
Overall, I would absolutely not recommend sending your kids here. it's just not a safe or supportive environment. this review probably breaks the rules, but I had to say something because the way this school is being run is completely unacceptable, and I don't want any other families to have to deal with what the students here are going through. it's just not right.

Too much English homework. It's not good for our mental health. And very extra with phones and uniforms, especially if the boys are shaven or not. We are not babies for you to tell us what to do.
