Montrose Bay High School

The teachers at Montrose are always changing, it is very unstable and not good for our grades. How can you be graded properly and fairy when you have only had your teacher for a term, or even worse the class that you were in was scraped so now you're in a different one.

The rules that are supposedly strictly enforced change too. It seems that only the good kids have to follow them while the naughty ones get a bit of time out of class like what they want and come back laughing and acting stupid. The good ones have to be treated like babies while the naughty ones act like them.

A teacher once swore at me with no valid reason and blamed it on me. Most teachers don’t know how to properly educate / accomodate to a classes needs

I honestly wish there was a better public high school nearby because Montrose has gone down hill.

We can't keep a principal and no matter who is in charge nothing changes. There are too many fights and I know that it would be horrible as a teacher having to break them up but I don't understand why they walk so slowly to them. When girls are mouthing off and are clearly about to get into a physical fight they just stand there and watch until it's too late and hair is ripped out. I've seen this happen when fights have happened near me and not because like half of the school I've gone to watch them.

The students are getting worse and the teachers can't handle them. Not only are they not strict enough but they have now power anyway. In some of my classes we sit there and do hardly anything for the 70 minute period. Not to mention the few teachers that try to act cool with the naughty students
and tell them very person stuff. Not professional at all.

It's so annoying that students are allowed to vape and smoke especially inside as it sets the fire alarms off and there's more time wasted.

If you are able to send your kids to another school then it might be worth doing so.

My time at Montrose was definitely a hard time. It was quiet at first and I made some friends. Some bullying went on but other than that by the time I was in grade 8 it was pretty bad. The health and well being teachers there wouldn't give me a break, I'd be forced into doing routines even if my body was sore or I had an injury. They would put me in detention every time I was unable to do physical work. Some sexual abuse went on there as well. I knew a girl which I won't name that was sexually abused by a male teacher. The thing that bothered me most was one of my home teachers. She would only talk to the popular kids and wouldnt pay mind to the rest of the kids. Every day I was bullied in class and this so called teacher watched it happen. I could have gotten her fired for laughing at one of the kids insults towards me. I didn't learn anything at Montrose. All I learnt was how to survive Teens and their horrible antics. I will never send my child to Montrose. Even if my life depended on it. Thank you

I really feel as if all students with further knowledge and skills are being extremely held back and not supported on there learning journey, it’s seems to be like the teachers are just on there phones replying to emails instead of educationist the class and furthering educating the further advanced, also my school class room is way over limit with over 32 kids in a really small class room which isn’t practical
