Horrible School

Mount Carmel College is NOT a suitable school for your daughter. They have closed their google reviews as before there was a plethora of negative reviews, majority being of a similar experience to my daughter. The staff at this school couldn’t care less about the wellbeing and education of their students. The principal spends more time worrying about skirt lengths and ties than the ongoing bullying and mental health issues prominent in the high school. There has been multiple occasions since my daughter joined the school in 2018 where students from other schools trespass into the school, with ease, and cause disturbance and worry among the students, one notable event occurred when a group of girls from a nearby school came into the school running through the halls, banging on walls and kicking toilet doors, they left then shortly after came back with seemingly no repercussions, they then entered school provided buses, that primary school students where on. The teachers handled the situation with horrid effort and communication home about the incident was beyond poorly. When talking to my friends who also, unfortunately, send their daughters to Mount Carmel, I discovered the unprofessional staff behaviour, with some teachers sharing explicit details about their personal life’s and relationships with students and allowing students to make offensive and derogatory comments within a classroom setting with no punishment, nor a warning. Upon this conversation, I learnt that quite often teachers own political and personal opinions often interrupt learning with a particular ‘returning’ relief teacher making incorrect and frequent remarks about people of differing cultures and identities. The misinformation and ignorance within certain staff’s teaching is abysmal, and does not allow students to form their own opinions. I will give credit to some teachers who helped my daughter throughout her journey at Mount Carmel, if it wasn’t for them I do not believe my daughter would have been able to continue at Mount Carmel. My daughter did not experience bullying from other students but rather constant mistreatment from members of staff, her elective teacher would frequently have angry outbursts in which he would scream at individuals in the class for as much as glancing at their computer whilst he was talking. This school is more than strict, it is a hostile environment in which uniform infringements are taken more seriously than learning plans and wellbeing issues. Please do not sent your daughter to this school, I wish i didn’t. If you do decide to enrol your daughter at Mount Carmel, please note that your fees will not be used for useful school resources but rather a Jesus statue at the back of the school that serves no purpose besides children sitting on it pretending to pick his boogers. Your money will also most likely be used to support the early learning centre’s electricity bill because they just needed high-tech heated floors for five year olds , meanwhile the high school rooms have mouldy ceilings with powerpoints falling off walls. Mount Carmel is in no way a good school in any aspect, the poor education, careless staff and lack of safety and concern for wellbeing is just the tip of the iceberg. I am fully confident in saying that it is the worst private school in Tasmania, possibly even Australia.

I HATE MCC

I have been at this school for ten years now and I am not happy with the experience and neither are my parents. It took the school this long to find out that I need help with my learning when I was showing signs of needing help in grade 3. Even though that they know I need help with my learning they are not helping me. I don’t recommend this school to anyone. They do not have good security anyone can walk up the stairs at the front of the school and majority of students sit down there. Just last year some girls came into the school looking for another student attending MCC (potentially with a knife) and a the teachers did was make us go near to the library and stand away not even putting us into lockdown. It is not a good school don’t go there.
