This school left me with lasting trauma.

I had a completely miserable time at this school. As an undiagnosed (at the time) queer kid Santa Maria did absolutely nothing to make me feel safe and valued. Teachers spent zero time with me helping me through subjects I struggled with, and turned a blind eye to the constant psychological bullying I underwent from my classmates. I ended up having to leave the school and do my VCE through Distance Education because my experience was so bad and I was so traumatised.

Its an alright school

Well it’s not the worst or the best ig
The uniform rules are just foul really but it’s whatever at this point.
More and more kids who start school here are plain rude and entitled like its just disgusting to see how disrespectful most kids are to the teachers ( especially those teachers who are just the nicest ).
Overall I reckon they provide lots of support for students who really need it and they do the best to encourage the students as well.

Good for the right person

Santa is an average school. Their are a good amount of resources available to students in class and the majority of staff are nice and teach well. I think that the school cares a lot about their reputation, shown through the strict uniform rules and traditional views held by some teachers. But, although homophobia is definitely still present in the school, it is definitely improving and the school is becoming more progressive. There are a lot of activities available for students in all fields, with the music program being notoriously good, and a strong promotion for students to participate in STEM. LSO’s are available for those needing more classroom support too, and teachers are generally happy to answer questions over email or in class. Overall, your average catholic school.

just don’t

homophobic, racist, really strict on uniform for no reason but only target unpopular people.

some good things like some sports and music but still quite toxic in some parts of these extracurriculars.

most of the good teachers have left because of new faculty (cough cough guggs)

care more about the uniform than actual learning.

drugs are a problem too lol (especially vapes)
