Santa Maria College

Last year was my first year there’s been many cases where the school “mistakenly” puts inappropriate searching on students laptops history’s and we ended up getting blamed for it. Many of my friends had it happend. We’d have a talk about it and get in trouble even though we explained we didint they didn't believe us. Until they found out it was there mistake all they did was emailed and apologised saying something was wrong their “testing” whether it was on purpose or not they didint even explain it and just left us confused. They said it wouldn’t happen again but it happened the next few months again

The school also constantly gives us infringements and detentions for earrings, uniform, makeup even if our socks look slightly wrong. They care so much about their reputation. We would have to keep buying their overpriced uniforms if our dress length was just a little above the knee. They’d force us to donate $10 dollars (depends on the teacher) when they can just use the money we pay them. Instead they use that money to build new unnecessary facilities. Even when we would be outside of school if we see a teacher they would make us put on our school jumpers. Everything about reputation. We’ve had discussions about this with teacher and all they said was “other people would be insecure if their ears weren’t pierced or their parents wouldn’t allow them to wear makeups and they see others students wearing makeup) I’m not even joking they said this

There is also no diversity in this school. Sure there is a little but mainly not.

Yes this school provides support if you look for it. It’s there but when u actually look for it you don’t get the outcomes you were expecting. We’ve looked for comfort from teachers when we Didin’t know where our classes were and ended up getting scolded for being late missing the class and disorganised.

Last year we would have to wear winter uniform and my white shirt was not tucked in the skirt and I got an infringement . I had to my earring out because it was a small pearl not hoop and I ended up being late getting another infringement.( Being late usually depends on your teacher though)

This is school isin’t the worst school but I’d say it isn’t worth. They do not do what they say they do. It is a catholic school and they always say they make you feel welcomed but ever since I’ve joined I’ve never felt welcomed. Even with friends.

Yes everyone has their own opinions on the school but everyone also has had different things that has happened to them.

- Cares more about how the school is perceived in regards to uniform and outrageously expensive and unnecessary new buildings rather than our actual education and mental health. General students aren’t given the time of day and some teachers are too lazy to properly and effectively teach their content. Food prices at the cafe are outrageous for the quality and quantity and the school fees are the same. Solid 3/10.

(Also babes that uniform needs an update it’s 2023 and your still making your students wear a hat, blazer and stockings…embarrassing)
