The two years I spent at this school were terrible and the worst years I have spent as a student so far. In the first two weeks of year 12 (2023), a 21 year old walks into the cafeteria and threatens a student with a hatchet while another student is seen with a knife. This was shown on major news outlets and talked about by at the time premier Mark McGowan.
As far as teachers and staff go. The principal was horrible, very rarely would she leave her office except for the occasional assembly where only a few words would be said almost as if she had to prove she even existed. There's not much to say about the vice principal other than that she operated as the principal's errand boy. Some of the teachers however were amazing. In year 11 my ATAR chemistry and Physics teacher was without a doubt the best teacher I'd ever had, though unfortunately that point is mute as he left after year 11 and was replaced with a teacher who would read straight from a text book and if you didn't understand something, he would just repeat what he said again verbatim. My year 12 ATAR English teacher was also amazing unfortunately she was one of the very few positives of that year. While I didn't take the geography classes, it was a known fact that the geography teacher (who had tenure) would often arrive to class late, often by 5-10 minutes and I heard sometimes 15. Her lack of punctuality and lack of actual teaching besides a textbook led to an appointment between a geography student and the Principal. For reference this is connected to me as I and two others in the ATAR English class helped him write the speech he would give as well as help structure his talking points. This appointment ended with the Principal saying she would look into it. Nothing was done about the geography teacher even though half the school was openly aware of how she operated as a teacher.
Long story short, my time at this school was a nightmare and the worst schooling experience of my life, there's so many small things I could go into from over the two years but it honestly isn't worth it. Until leadership changes at Sevenoaks I would steer clear of it.
