We removed our son. We chose this school for its innovative approach to care and learning. For five years he had great teachers support and report cards. This year he was accused and continually threatened with notional zeros. One assignment tested 21% AI. He had spent weeks on it and had photo evidence of his process but was told he must have faked it. It is like the school is actively trying to tank the students ATARs.
I could list so many concerning interactions and comments. The teachers have gone from caring and concerned to cruel and noncommunicative. If you care about your child’s mental health and grades avoid at all costs.
I use to go to John paul college but recently changed to another school this year (luckily) I had a horrible experience at this school and so have my friends and cow-workers who use to attend jpc. Most of the teachers were commonly screaming at students for little mistakes that when I was in jpc, made me terrified to even ask teachers for help. Whenever I did ask a teacher for help, they would either scream at me or brush it off saying "You should have been listening" wow very helpful! My grades went down and so did my mental health.
And about the rules...the crazy rules. You couldn't wear anything that wasn't school uniform that even wearing a bracelet was able to get you to detention. One time I wore grey socks instead of white socks and got lunch detention while the bullies get less trouble for bullying me and my friends.
I didn't realise how bad this school was until I changed schools. I saw how teachers were treating the students and they were so kind, so eager to help. Since I was scared to ask for help, I didn't ask for help but the teachers at my new school actually care and upset I don't ask for questions. I could talk to the teachers without being scared, I can joke with the teachers.
Jpc fucking sucks that it ruined every shred of happyness I even had. I hope it fucking burns to shreds, fuck you fuck you
This school isn’t worth it, don’t waste your money on it, this school ruined my mental health, most of the teachers aren’t good for example “oh you’re getting bullied? Suck it up’” but “oh my god, those are the wrong socks! Workshop for you!”
It’s also hard for some students to get help with their learning but it depends on if the teacher actually cares about them.
JPC has unfortunately shifted away from the qualities that once made it an appealing choice for families seeking an innovative and independent learning environment. Over time, significant changes in the school’s pedagogy have negatively impacted student outcomes, with falling academic results reflecting this trend.
One of the most concerning aspects is the lack of investment from teachers in the success of their students. Unless a student is considered a "favourite," they may struggle to receive the support they need to thrive. Instead of prioritising the pastoral care and individual needs of students, much of the focus has shifted toward enforcing rigid school rules, often to the detriment of what’s truly best for the students.
The arrival of the new principal, "Dr" Wattam, has exacerbated these issues. Leadership decisions under their tenure appear to be steering the school away from its initial vision of fostering independence and holistic education. The once-unique learning approach has been diluted, leaving the school feeling like just another regular Catholic institution.
Bullying goes unchecked, whilst those getting bullied, if they react, get much harsher punishments. There are also gangs in the school, due to their ethnicity, are untouchable.
Overall, the loss of the school’s independent ethos and the apparent disregard for pastoral care are deeply disappointing. Families seeking a nurturing and innovative educational experience may need to look elsewhere.
St John paul ii collage is bad don’t waste your money
The school is a bad place because it’s is a racist and very perverted place teacher especially enduring violence it was even accounted one student last year committed suicide due to various bullying occasions that the school did nothing to provent
