Leap

This school is unhelpful and damaged my schoolling

This school struggles to recognise people who need support. It seems if you are ‘smart enough’ your struggles are just ignored. Or if your struggles aren’t extremely visible. My grades were bad, I was being ignored, and the teachers are not flexible. Do i expect all teachers to be flexible? No. But this was insanity. If you are clearly overwhelmed most teachers do not care, they will make you do the work even if you physical and/or mentally cannot at that moment. Also the Leap course: Bad, I would never reccomend it to anyone. The Leap course does not at all account that being Smart ≠ Amazing at every subject. I was getting nearly single digits in maths because there is only one maths course when i was doing it, the same higher level maths for everyone. Whilst mainstream gets split in to classes far more beneficial to kids who need the help. The teachers also (in general not just for leap) do not understand the concept that not every child learns the same. For some classes I learnt nothing and had to teach myself just because i had different ways of thinking. And the grading? Bad. I have extreme social anxiety. tell me WHY that one factor puts me from an A to a C. Its not all classes, some keep me at A/B. But c cuz i “won’t ask questions” or “wont contribute to class discussions” why is that important? if i know the materials and are doing fine why does it matter so badly if im shy. Infact, the few times i did? teachers ignored me. This school is bad, its all about being sporty or smart but only smart in the “normal” way of course.

Sexist and disrespectful towards young girls

A teacher once slapped my behind with a book after a one on one test. The same teacher once pulled up a girl in my year in front of her entire class and called her names and discussed how provocative she looked. Many other girls were wearing the exact same outfit as this young UNDERAGE girl, except had differing body types. The other girls were never treated this way.
There was a school assembly held for just the girls a few years ago, addressing the fact that the boys at the school and the MALE FACULTY MEMBERS were getting distracted by the UNDERAGE FEMALE STUDENTS as they walk up the stairs and that therefore the girls had to CHANGE to avoid this. Not a single guy was talked to about it, apparently it’s more important to reprimand what girls are wearing rather than perving/pedophilic boys and men. Utterly disgusting.

Worst school for social anxiety.

If you don’t fit into the norm, students will harass you. Teachers won’t even notice. You’ll be lucky to get proper support with you’re mental support. Definitely worst school for students with social anxiety, they expect you to speak up about everything, if you’re quiet you will never be noticed.
